Upside down hinge Depending on the location of the gate it is good practice to install one of the gate hinges upside down. This prevents the gate being lifted off the hinges and stolen. Rising hinges Setting a gate on a slope can be difficult. Opening into the slope can mean you cant fully open the gate. Several different options to compensate for this can be used. one of these is the rising hinge Stile A cost effective solution to a  gate is a stile.
